Biafrans in Onitsha, which led to the death of some persons, saying their presence was to maintain peace.
The lawmaker who stated this at the weekend during the annual end of year and cultural celebration of Ogwashi-uku Development Association, Abuja Branch, said dialogue and negotiation remain the only antidote to resolving the crises
“I think both the government and the people should come together in a round table. If the people are agitating for their own state, it means they are not happy with how they are being treated in Nigeria.
“If we are supposed to be a federating part and one part is upset and decides not to be part of the whole again, it means there is reason for that and the best is not to send the military after them.
“You can send the military to keep peace while they are protesting, but not to shot anybody” she stressed.
Describing culture as essential part of the life of any society, the honorable member, who is the committee Vice Chairman on Science and Technology, said it can also serve as a tool for unity and integration if properly harnessed.
